I would also recommend looking at an Aeropress for travel. There's no metal (or glass) and it makes a single cup at a time, which can be handy on travel. You can get them from Amazon for pretty cheap, and it makes a great cup of coffee along the lines of the french press. Now if I could just figure out how to make my grinder portable I'd be set!

We have 3. All of them are a Bodum Young Press. One stays at my office, one goes on deployment with my husband, who is active duty military and does not always have access to a drip machine or the facilities to use one, and one stays here for home use and goes with us on any trips we take(like my mother's house, who drinks horrible, darkened water in her drip machine)...they are excellent for travel as they are made of a rubber & plastic outer shell ...and they are very well priced. Next to my Breville Espresso maker, this my favorite coffee 'maker'...

I like my basic Bodum French Press.

Also, for Travel, though I personally haven't tried it yet (but want to) - there's a Travel French Press

http://www.amazon.com/Bodum-16-Ounce-Insulated-Travel-Coffee/dp/B00023KJME/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1239229113&sr=8-1

You can get them at Target, too.

I've been looking to get a French Press for a while. Everyone says it makes better coffee and I'd at least like to compare it.

I too am in the market for a French press. While I've always fancied getting one, I never made the push to do it. Our most recent move however has forced my hand. We do not have easy access to a stove where we live now, and my wife does not drink coffee. The old drip machine has been purged of it's coffee roots and is used solely now to heat large quantities of water, which can be used for both tea and coffee made in a French press.

Please post when you find a good one, I've been browsing for some time, and have yet to find one that stands out!
